No Direction Home

It's been 4 months since my last update, and I'm still not sure how to continue this blog.
I've been thinking about just making it about comics or about personal matters, but then it wouldn't make sense since I started this blog for webcomics. I mean, if I didn't do webcomics, then why not just make another blog for personal entries then? I dunno, I'm quite the neat freak, so things like this run through me a lot of times.
I'd really love to get back to making comics, but acads are killing me right now. Hopefully I'll be free by April and everything'll be back to normal.

Komikon 2007

As backward as it sounds, I didn't bring a camera with me to the event. I did however bring my sketchpad with me, so I guess these would be my 'pictures' for the Komikon. So let's begin!
Woke up rather early to get ready. I was gonna carpool with a friend to get to the Komikon, but he had some magazines to drop at Ateneo so we had to attend to that first. His pet dogs were cute. Intimidating....but cute.

Ateneo has quite a campus I can say. It's certainly different from La Salle ambiance-wise. Since there are a lot of trees and the buildings are really far apart, somehow it seems more relaxing ( Wouldn't want to be caught late for class though, it'd be a pain to run from one end of the campus to the other.)

Anyway....once he was finished with his stuff at Ateneo he showed me the way to UP Diliman. I wrote his instructions down on my pad to to be sure.

I arrived at UP by 10, and since it was early I decided to stroll around and see the other buildings in the campus.

And I thought Ateneo was huge! I did get to see some of the buildings that Arnold Arre used in Mythology Class, which was kind of cool.

After an hour of walking I eventually found the Bahay ng Alumni.

Took time to do a sketch before I got in.

This was the 2nd Komikon in UP I've been in, but it was the first time that I was selling something at the event. I paid the admission fee (although later on my friends told me that I didn't need to since I was selling stuff.-__-") and settled into the CSB booth, which was conviniently located next to our Prof. Gerry's booth.

I liked the fact that they moved the exhibit to the second floor, since it gives more space to move around and more booths for people to sell stuff.

Compared to last year, I'd have to say I like this year better. And thank goodness for the free cardboard fans!

Sir Gerry busy signing ELMERS for people. I was really ecstatic when Gerry passed me a copy and told me to look at the back. I couldn't believe that my Ultimate Elmer fanart was published in his comic!!!!! 0______0!!!!! That seriously made my day, at that point I could have gone home without selling anything and I'd still be a happy camper. At the back of my head I was screaming and jumping for joy, but of course in reality all I could muster was a grateful smile.^_^".

To everyone out there, buy Elmer 3 and see my art! Hahahaha.

Showed my stuff to James Palabay after a lot of persuasion by a friend of mine. James was kind enough not to bash the hell out of my work, and was kind enough to give a few praises as well.

Bought a few indies and WWH#5 before heading home. I dunno what it is about WW Hulk, but somehow it brought the 'cool' back to Hulk. I really can't believe I'm a fan now!

Some things I should keep in mind for next year's Komikon:

Overall I had a blast! My indie didn't sell too well (sold like 7 or so), but I guess it's really hard to sell something that isn't manga if your not well known. But still at least it's a learning experience. Thanks to everyone who bought my comic (all seven of you, I counted!), thanks to Sir Gerry for putting my art on Elmer. And thanks to Hubert for taking me to this years con. If it weren't for you I don't know how much I'd be spending for a taxi just to reach that place.

Till next year!

Kathang Isip Chapter 2

Here's the cover for Chapter 2!
I've decided to just continue on and redraw the entire second chapter.>_<. I don't really know when I'll be getting my portfolio back, so I might as well do it over again.
New page next week, hopefully.

Kathang Isip page 10

The last page of the first chapter!
I'm not really sure if I'll be posting the new pages for chapter 2 next week. Actually they're already done, but like I've said I left it as well as some other illustrations with a animation company I was applying for, and I don't really know when I can have it back.-___-". Oh Well, I might just redo those pages again (its just 10 pages after all) rather than wait.

Fixed up the site a 'lil bit, still trying to figure out things here and there so expect the site to change a bit for weeks to come.

Back Again! Kathang Isip Page 9

My apologies to the people following this site (there's maybe around 3 of you out there), school work basically took the most out of my time and I found it really hard to update this blog.
But now the terms finally over I have time to update once again.^_^"
---------
I'm not sure if I'll be able to continue this after the 10th page though. I still haven't gotten my portfolio back, and it so happens that pages 11 through 20 are there!!-___-".

Masthead comics!

I've been putting this off for days now since I've been really, REALLY busy with academics and OJT lately, so my apologies to Hub, since I promised to plug his webcomics ages ago.^_^". Better Late than never eh?

About Masthead Comics:
"Journalism and comics share one very important characteristic - telling a good story. And thanks to my limited but rich experience in journalism (Chay classes and Matanglawin work) and my kooky friends, I give you Masthead, a comic about the unique experiences that student journalists face. This is a simple reminder, too, that journalism is not all rigid and serious. It can be as hilarious as the next profession, like making comics. :)"

Hope you all drop by his site and check out his comics! Updated weekly, if he's not too busy with school work too. XD.
